Well, not really.
But some clever commenters jokingly said this new clip from American Hustle won’t sit well with Superman. In this super (er, Bat?) short video, Christian Bale‘s con man Irving Rosenfeld meets for the first time his would-be partner and lover Sydney Prosser, played by Amy Adams. In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, Bale is the most recent Batman, and Adams is the Lois Lane to Henry Cavill‘s latest Man of Steel.
Here is the official synopsis for American Hustle, a reunion project for Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell and his lead stars Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. Rounding out the star-studded cast is Jeremy Renner.
A fictional film set in the alluring world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock the U.S., American Hustle tells the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who, along with his equally cunning and seductive British partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams), is forced to work for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that’s as dangerous as it is enchanting. Jeremy Renner is Carmine Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving’s unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down. Like David O. Russell’s previous films, American Hustle defies genre, hinging on raw emotion, and life and death stakes.
Despite Bale’s unfortunate hairdo, this scene manages to be sexy, thanks to Adams’s halter top and shoulders. See for yourself.
American Hustle, to be distributed by Columbia Pictures, will be shown in the U.S. next month, and hopefully, early next year, in the Philippines.
